Earnings and Revenue Trajectory
AI Review
Saab's financial results demonstrate explosive top-line acceleration driven by European rearmament. Full-year 2025 revenue surged 24.1% to SEK 79.1 billion, while net income jumped 51.4% to SEK 6.31 billion, propelled by rapid deliveries in ground combat munitions and radar systems. This operational momentum extended into mid-2026, with second-quarter sales climbing 28.6% as order intake broke records. However, headline accounting profits conceal an important cash flow reality. While net income expanded rapidly, first-half 2026 free cash flow was negative SEK 594 million due to heavy working capital investments needed to build inventory for future deliveries. Converting the record SEK 318 billion backlog into realized cash requires disciplined delivery without manufacturing delays.

Profitability & Margins
Margins and Operating Efficiency
AI Review
Profitability has staged a steady structural climb, with operating margins rising from 7.79% in 2022 to 9.51% in 2025, and reaching 11.0% in the second quarter of 2026. This margin progress stems from favorable product mix shifts toward high-margin Carl-Gustaf munitions and radar surveillance electronics, which dilute fixed factory overhead. However, gross margins have hovered near 21% to 22%, indicating that profit gains come from spreading overhead across higher volume rather than raw contract pricing power. Meanwhile, development friction on the Boeing T-7A trainer and fixed-price naval programs creates cost absorption, likely capping long-term operating margins around 11% to 12%.
