Earnings and Revenue Trajectory
AI Review
The company is recovering from major business shifts following the spinoff of its healthcare unit. Full-year 2025 revenue stabilized at $24.9 billion, and recent quarterly sales show modest organic expansion of about 2% to 5% across core industrial and safety lines. Management's restructuring efforts are successfully eliminating factory bloat, lifting adjusted operating profits. However, headline profits hide a crucial divide. Management reports strong adjusted earnings of nearly $9 per share, but statutory GAAP earnings sit much lower near $5.68 per share. This difference exists because ongoing legal settlement payments and restructuring charges consume substantial cash, meaning true distributable earnings remain constrained.

Profitability & Margins
Margins and Operating Efficiency
AI Review
Profitability presents two contrasting stories. Adjusted operating margins have climbed impressively from 18% toward 25%, driven by aggressive administrative cost-cutting, plant consolidation, and strong contract pricing in core industrial adhesives. This proves that internal efficiency initiatives are delivering genuine operational progress. Conversely, gross margins have declined to roughly 40% from historical peaks near 49%, reflecting petrochemical feedstock inflation and the loss of high-margin healthcare revenue. Furthermore, unadjusted GAAP operating margins remain around 15% due to continuous restructuring charges, highlighting that profit recovery remains a work in progress.
