Earnings and Revenue Trajectory
AI Review
Great Wall Motor's recent financial performance presents a clear contrast between expanding revenue and shrinking reported profits. For the first half of 2026, total sales revenue grew 10.6% to reach CNY 102.1 billion, yet net profit tumbled 61.1% to CNY 2.46 billion. This headline drop alarmed the market, but the underlying business was not broken. The profit decline was primarily caused by delayed overseas tax subsidy payments and paper losses from foreign currency movements. Crucially, underlying cash flow told a completely different story. Net operating cash inflow actually grew by 13.3% to CNY 10.44 billion during the same six-month period. This proves that real money is coming into the business even while accounting rules temporarily depressed headline earnings. As delayed export rebates arrive and international sales continue expanding, reported profits should rebound toward normal levels.

Profitability & Margins
Margins and Operating Efficiency
AI Review
Profit margins have experienced an intense tug-of-war between cheap domestic competition and lucrative international expansion. Operating margins fell toward 2.5% in early 2026 due to heavy discounting in China and increased marketing spending. However, consolidated gross margin held remarkably steady at 18.37%, demonstrating that actual vehicle manufacturing costs remain tightly controlled. The secret behind this stability is a sharp divide in profitability between markets. While domestic passenger cars suffer from price cuts, premium Tank off-road SUVs and export shipments earn gross margins well above 20%. As international deliveries grow to represent the majority of total sales, higher overseas profits will outweigh domestic discounting and lift group profit margins higher over time.
