Earnings and Revenue Trajectory
AI Review
Workday's recent financial results tell a story of an enterprise software pioneer successfully evolving into a disciplined profit machine. For fiscal year 2026, revenue grew 13.1% to $9.55 billion, while GAAP operating income surged 147% to $1.02 billion. However, recent quarterly earnings headlines were flattered by a $374 million one-off tax benefit related to an internal intellectual property transfer. Looking past that accounting event, core operations continue to generate dependable subscription revenue from recurring corporate contracts. Free cash flow generation provides the clearest view of the underlying business. Workday produced $2.84 billion in free cash flow over the trailing twelve months, achieving an exceptional 28% cash conversion margin. While revenue growth has naturally moderated from historical 20% rates as large enterprise markets mature, recurring subscription commitments ensure that cash collections remain stable and insulated from short-term economic shocks.

AI Review
Workday's profitability shows a structural breakout as platform scale translates into wider margins. Gross margins remained rock-solid at 75.7% in fiscal 2026, proving that corporate customers do not demand steep discounts for critical human resources and accounting software. Meanwhile, GAAP operating margins expanded from 2.5% in fiscal 2024 to 10.7% in fiscal 2026, with non-GAAP margins reaching 31.1% in recent quarters. This impressive margin expansion reflects disciplined control over corporate administrative hiring and automated cloud deployment. However, investors must monitor the gap between GAAP and adjusted results, which is driven by roughly $1.6 billion in annual employee stock grants. As the business continues to scale, high-margin software modules should help sustain healthy operating margins across the forecast period.
