Earnings and Revenue Trajectory
AI Review
Sonova presents two contrasting financial realities. In reported Swiss francs, revenue has appeared stagnant around CHF 3.61 billion due to sharp currency translation penalties. However, underlying sales in local currencies grew 5.9% in fiscal 2025/26, driven by solid volume gains in prescription hearing aids. Reported net income declined to CHF 431 million after restructuring charges and losses from the consumer hearing business. Crucially, underlying cash generation remained robust, producing over CHF 600 million in free cash flow, proving that the core medical franchise remains healthy.

Profitability & Margins
Margins and Operating Efficiency
AI Review
Gross profit margins remained exceptional at 73.7% in fiscal 2025/26, demonstrating strong pricing power for advanced audiological hardware. The company easily defends premium device prices because patients and clinicians prioritize clinical hearing performance over cost. Reported operating margins dipped to 18.7% due to consumer headphone losses, clinic wage inflation, and foreign exchange friction. Exiting the consumer headphone business removes a persistent drain, positioning core operating margins to recover back toward 21% to 22% over time.
