AI Review
Rocket Lab is delivering explosive top-line revenue growth, with fiscal 2025 revenue reaching 602 million dollars before accelerating sixty-two percent year-over-year in the second quarter of 2026 to 234 million dollars. This volumetric expansion is powered primarily by the Space Systems division, which builds complete satellite buses and components for national security constellations. The company boasts a record 2.36 billion dollar backlog, proving intense customer demand. However, headline sales gains conceal entrenched operating losses. Trailing twelve-month net losses stand at 165 million dollars, while trailing free cash flow burned 398 million dollars due to massive research and engineering outlays for the new medium-lift rocket. True profitability remains deferred until vehicle development spending subsides and high-margin recurring satellite communications cash flows are integrated.

Profitability & Margins
Margins and Operating Efficiency
AI Review
Gross profit margins have demonstrated impressive structural expansion, rising from twenty-one percent in 2023 to 34.4 percent in fiscal 2025, and hitting 36.1 percent in mid-2026. This improvement stems from favorable mission mix, premium pricing on dedicated small launches, and high-margin satellite subsystem manufacturing, confirming solid underlying factory economics. Conversely, operating margins remain deeply underwater at negative thirty-eight percent for fiscal 2025. Surging research, development, and administrative expenses consume all gross profits, while management guidance warns of near-term gross margins softening to thirty percent on prototype defense satellite builds. Consolidated operating profitability cannot emerge until developmental spending normalizes and recurring satellite services scale across the business.
