Earnings and Revenue Trajectory
AI Review
Hua Hong's top-line revenue shows solid recovery, reaching a record 718 million dollars in the second quarter of 2026. This represents over 24% annual growth, driven by strong wafer shipments and near-total factory utilization under national self-reliance policies. Consumer electronics, industrial systems, and automotive components provided steady volume. However, headline gains conceal deep structural weakness. Operating income remained negative over the trailing twelve months, showing that core manufacturing struggles to cover baseline operating costs. Reported net profits rely on non-operating government subsidies and interest income rather than profitable wafer manufacturing.

Profitability & Margins
Margins and Operating Efficiency
AI Review
Gross profit margins rebounded cyclically to 16.5% in mid-2026 as tight factory utilization and selective wafer price hikes helped cover costs. However, profitability remains severely depressed compared to the peak 34.1% gross margin achieved during the global chip shortages of 2022. The primary barrier to sustained profit recovery is fixed equipment depreciation, which now exceeds 230 million dollars each quarter. Because mature-node silicon faces stiff competition from rival domestic foundries, the company lacks the pricing power needed to overcome this massive fixed overhead, keeping net profit margins pinned near single digits.
