AI Review
AbbVie's financial results tell an impressive story of business recovery. After facing the loss of patent exclusivity on Humira, the company successfully replaced lost sales with rapid double-digit growth from Skyrizi and Rinvoq, pushing twelve-month revenues to $64.4 billion. Together with a solid neuroscience division, core prescription demand has decisively rebounded. However, headline accounting earnings can be confusing. Reported net income of $6.31 billion looks modest because of heavy accounting write-downs and amortization from past corporate mergers. In reality, AbbVie generated approximately $18.2 to $19.7 billion in trailing free cash flow, proving that day-to-day operational cash generation remains exceptionally strong.

Profitability & Margins
Margins and Operating Efficiency
AI Review
AbbVie enjoys world-class profit margins on the medicines it sells, posting gross margins above 70% and adjusted gross margins near 85%. Operating margins rebounded sharply to 32.8% as one-off merger charges subsided, demonstrating that manufacturing high-volume biologics like Skyrizi generates tremendous operating leverage. Looking ahead, maintaining these elite margins will become harder. While manufacturing efficiencies remain strong, government drug price negotiations under Medicare Part D and rising insurance rebates will chip away at realized prices. Strong prescription volume will help cushion the blow, but statutory price caps will likely prevent profit margins from expanding much further.
