Earnings and Revenue Trajectory

AI Review

Sunny Optical has successfully moved past its severe 2023 business downturn. Total revenue for fiscal 2025 recovered to CNY 43.2 billion, while net income surged to CNY 4.64 billion. First-half 2026 results showed continued stability, generating CNY 21.9 billion in sales. However, headline profit growth was somewhat exaggerated by a one-time equity-swap gain, meaning recurring operational growth is more measured than first appears. The true strength lies in cash generation. Operating cash flow expanded substantially in early 2026, reaching CNY 3.4 billion. As higher-margin vehicle cameras and robotic sensors grow faster than sluggish smartphone parts, cash earnings are becoming more reliable.

Profitability & Margins

Margins and Operating Efficiency

AI Review

Profit margins have staged a solid comeback from their 2023 lows. Group gross margins rebounded to 19.7% in 2025 and held steady at 19.5% in the first half of 2026. This recovery is driven by an improving product mix, as lucrative vehicle lenses and advanced periscope zoom modules outpace basic phone camera parts. A clear split exists across the business: automotive lenses earn gross margins above 30%, while standard phone modules linger in the low teens. As smart vehicle shipments expand, this higher-margin business should steadily lift overall company profitability despite tough competition.
