Earnings and Revenue Trajectory
AI Review
Samsung's latest financial results demonstrate a dramatic cyclical turnaround, powered by unprecedented demand for artificial intelligence hardware. In the second quarter of 2026, revenue surged to an all-time record of KRW 171.5 trillion, while operating profit exploded to KRW 89.5 trillion, led almost entirely by the semiconductor division. High average selling prices for advanced server memory generated extraordinary cash flow, completely reversing the depressed results of the 2023 downturn. However, these headline records conceal an important internal divergence. While the memory chip business generated massive windfalls, the mobile and home appliance divisions slipped into minor operating losses due to the surging cost of internal components. Investors must recognize that while current profits provide enormous capital buffers, these peak results reflect temporary supply shortages that will normalize as industry production expands.

Profitability & Margins
Margins and Operating Efficiency
AI Review
Profit margins reached breathtaking highs in mid-2026, with the semiconductor division achieving an operating margin near seventy percent and group operating margins climbing past fifty percent. This margin explosion was propelled by extreme pricing power in high-bandwidth memory and enterprise storage, where intense scarcity allowed Samsung to capture enormous operating leverage over its fixed factory costs. Investors must understand that these astronomical margins reflect peak-cycle conditions rather than a permanent new normal. As competitors ramp up their own factory output and customer stockpiles stabilize by 2028, pricing will soften, pulling consolidated profit margins back toward sustainable mid-cycle levels of fifteen to twenty-five percent. Fortunately, structural demand for AI memory ensures this future floor will remain significantly higher than past historical troughs.
