Earnings and Revenue Trajectory
AI Review
The company's core business continues to perform solidly, driven by strong prescription sales in specialty medicines and adult vaccines. In fiscal 2025, revenue reached £32.7 billion with underlying operating profit expanding steadily. This operational momentum confirms that day-to-day healthcare demand remains reliable and growing. However, headline reported profits experience periodic swings from non-cash accounting adjustments, including a £1.3 billion write-down on a discontinued trial medicine. These paper charges temporarily obscure robust underlying cash generation. With normalized annual free cash flow remaining near £6 billion, the business generates ample liquidity to self-fund its operations.

Profitability & Margins
Margins and Operating Efficiency
AI Review
Profitability has structurally improved because the company sells an increasing proportion of complex specialty therapies and proprietary vaccines. Gross profit margins expanded above 72% in fiscal 2025, reflecting pricing strength and manufacturing efficiencies that help counteract rising supply chain expenses. To defend profitability against future generic competition, management is executing a restructuring plan targeting £1.9 billion in annual cost savings by 2029. By streamlining administration and commercial operations, these efficiencies ensure core operating margins remain stable near 30% even as older medications face lower generic prices.
